We all see the ‘new amazing diets’ everywhere. On TV, social media, in magazines and beyond. You’re told if you follow a strict but miniature list of manageable guidelines, you’ll achieve astounding results.

The truth of the matter is this – these results aren’t real or permanent and are likely to disrupt and damage your body’s functionality. They’re designed to make money, not improve your health or fitness.

For your body to function, it’s important you don’t deprive yourself of vital nutrients, which many fad diets demand.

To give you an example, let’s have a look at the renowned and lauded Atkins Diet. Burning fat leads the body into state called Ketosis, which can cause bad breath, tiredness, weakness, dizziness, insomnia and nausea.

Scary, right? To lose weight, you must be a well-oiled machine which attains a healthy balance of protein, carbohydrates and fat, as well as a long list of other nutrients.

With the Atkins Diet, most of the reported quickfire success is attributed to water loss or dehydration. Things take a bit more time – you need to be patient to lose weight properly.
