Make a ‘Fierce’ Start to Your Year!

By: Steffie Handley

Christmas is over for another year- Upsetting I know! But now it’s time to think about how you want to change your life this year. Okay, so we are all guilty of having a little too much to eat over the Christmas period but hey, who can resist a good home cooked roast dinner and a big piece of cake for dessert! It’s time to start shaking off that little bit of Christmas weight or to start making targets for where you want to be this time next year. Making changes to your lifestyle, diet and exercise regime doesn’t mean you have to be a completely new person! Just making you feel a look a better person than you already are.

New year new me? No, new year, fiercer me!NEw Year new me

It’s time for a fresh start and one of the best ways to start your year off on a positive note is through exercise. It’s often the case that the beginning of the year is when everyone is full of motivation to lose weight and be healthy to get themselves ‘summer body ready’. I don’t always like this term… a lot of people can misinterpret this saying and believe a ‘summer body’ is skinny, toned and super thin. If this is where you want to be then great! Work your hardest and find the motivation to achieve that goal. However, I like to think being summer body ready means you are at a place where you feel super confident and even more fierce in your own skin, no matter your shape or size!

I want to stay motivated, but I can’t!Motivation

Setting yourself your own personal targets and goals of where you want to be in the next 3, 6, 9 or 12 months is the best way forward. Don’t expect to drop 5 stone and build super toned abs in 2 months… the likelihood is; it probably isn’t going to happen! Be realistic, that way you will always be able to reach your goals and potentially even better them – what can be more rewarding and motivational than that?

How can a personal trainer help?

Very good question… our Fierce Fit personal trainers are experts in keeping their clients motivated and ready to work out. They push everyone to their max to help them achieve their goals and are always there for advice and support throughout. They understand you’re not always going to stick to a very strict regime – life gets in the way sometimes and that’s fine!

don't give up

One important factor our personal trainers implement into their training is that they are able to adapt and create individual training regimes based on a person’s needs, wants, goals and targets. The same workout doesn’t work for everyone, regardless of whether they have the same goals or not. Everyone’s bodies and training abilities are different and we understand that. We want the best for you so that is what you are going to get!

So when should I start?

Well, there’s no time like the present as they say! If you want to make a fierce start to your year, we are only one call or email away to helping you on your journey.

I graduated from University of central Lancashire with a social worker based degree, (Care, Community and Citizenship). I knew I wanted to help people but was unsure of which path to take, I found myself lost, I finished university and still not a clue what to do. During my time at university I no longer found time for physical activity, my love for food grew and my weight slowly crept up. I knew something had to change as I felt friends were moving on around me and I was stationary. This was the kickstart I needed to go on my fitness journey which has seen me shed over eight stone in weight, complete my first marathon in Geneva raising money for UNICEF, qualify as an Advanced Personal Trainer and Nutritional Advisor.
